Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia
Now open

A century in the making, the hotly-anticipated Museum of the American Revolution opened to the public on April 19 — the anniversary of “the shot heard ‘round the world” that kicked off the Revolutionary War. With 118,000 square feet in historic Philadelphia, the state-of-the-art museum is home to revolutionary-era weapons, personal items, letters, diaries and works of art. One special feature is then-General George Washington’s headquarters tent — considered one of the most important surviving artifacts from the war. Also look for his wartime correspondence, a full-scale replica of Boston’s Liberty Tree where early discussions of revolution happened, weaponry from the war, and art from the time period. amrevmuseum.org
